Zusammenfassung: | Fishing is a hazardous work creates causalities to life at sea. The present study investigates the rate of accidents reported from different harbours of Kerala. Of the 132 vessels studied including mechanized and motorized fishing vessels, 47.72% of vessels have reported with different accidents at sea during fishing operations. Injuries by handling of heavy objects onboard the vessel reported the highest of these types. Of the total vessels surveyed, only 23.48% of vessels have reported zero accident cases. Marine Enforcement Wing of Department of Fisheries, Indian Coastal guard and Indian Navy in Kerala coast engages in the rescue operations along the state. |
