Zusammenfassung:•Snake bites are a underestimated public health problem in many tropical and subtropical countries.•The misguided treatments of snakebite wounds can cause more harm than the snakebite itself.•There are no unified guidelines for emergency management of common snakebite wounds.•Novel and effective approaches for snakebite wounds management are being studied worldwide.•Liuhedan and Comfeel® Wound Dressing showed comparable effectiveness in reducing snakebite wound swelling, surpassing the effects observed in the magnesium sulfate group.
