Caudal pulmonary hypostasis and edema due to upright body position after death

•Postmortem CT (PMCT) of two sediment disaster victims were performed.•They were found buried upright in sediment.•PMCTs showed hypostasis and postmortem edema on the caudal portion of the lungs.
