Zusammenfassung:•A kind of binder of WER-SCMEA was introduced to micro-surfacing mixtures.•Pavement performance and durability of WER-SCMEA micro-surfacing were satisfactory.•Performance of WER-SCMEA micro-surfacing is better than that of SBR micro-surfacing. Micro-surfacing is an effective preventive maintenance measurement. This paper introduces a new micro-surfacing with binder of Waterborne Epoxy Resin-SBR Compound Modified Emulsified Asphalt (WER-SCMEA) to overcome the common distresses, such as wear, rutting, aging, poor water stability, etc. The pavement performance and durability were investigated and compared with Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) modified emulsified asphalt micro-surfacing by a series of laboratory tests. Results show that the WER-SCMEA micro-surfacing has good pavement performance, such as good high temperature rutting resistance, interlaminar shear resistance, anti-slide and waterproof performance. Besides, the WER-SCMEA micro-surfacing has good durability, such as good wear resistance, aging resistance and water stability. The good performance of WER-SCMEA micro- surfacing could alleviate the damages in the condition of long-term water immersion and freeze–thaw cycles greatly.
