Zusammenfassung:•Applying feasibility of schorlite was confirmed through electric property evaluation.•Schorlite could promote the high-temperature stability of asphalt.•SA could achieve purifying effect on pollutant in natural environment. For the purpose of determining the applying feasibility of schorlite in asphalt pavement material for exhaust-purifying function, Fe-schorlite and Mg-schorlite were selected in this work and prepared to modify asphalt through certain technical methods. The preliminary feasibility was examined by analyzing the shielding effect of asphalt on the piezoelectric and dielectric performance of schorlite. Then, the microscopic graph and feature elements of schorlite in asphalt were characterized through SEM-EDS to assess the dispersibility of schorlite when added into asphalt pavement material. The effect of schorlite on the rheological behavior of asphalt was also investigated to confirm its applying feasibility in asphalt. Finally, the purifying performance of schorlite modified asphalt was evaluated through performing designed experiment under the condition of natural environment. The results showed that Fe-schorlite was more suitable for modifying asphalt because of better piezoelectric/dielectric property and dispersibility inside asphalt. The rheological behavior of schorlite modified asphalt (SA) was similar to that of SK70# asphalt, which indicated that the addition of schorlite wouldn’t lead to negative effect on rheological behavior of asphalt. The modification of schorlite could achieve purifying effect of pavement on NOx and SO2, which provided reference for the key scientific issue for achieving purifying effect of pavement on exhaust.
