Zusammenfassung: | A novel series of 1,2,4-thiadiazole linked pyridone (9a-j) derivatives were syntheized and their structures were determined by 1HNMR, 13CNMR and mass spectral data. Further, all compounds were investigated for their anticancer activity against a panel of human cancer cell lines including MCF-7 (breast), A549 (lung), Colo-205 (colon) and A2780 (ovarian) using MTT assay. All these compounds exhibited outstanding anticancer activities against these cell lines, and the results were compared with clinical agent etoposide (positive control). Among the synthesized compounds, six compounds viz.9b, 9c, 9d, 9e, 9i and 9j have shown more potent anticancer activity than the positive control. Amongst these compound 9b has displayed remarkable anticancer activity.
