Zusammenfassung:Clostridioides difficile has been identified as one of the primary etiologic agents of nosocomial diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis in humans and other mammals associated following broad-spectrum antibiotics use. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil we describe a case of C. difficile infection (CDI) in a 13-year-old male dog. •This is the first case about a Clostridioides difficile infection in a domestic dog reported in Rio de Janeiro State.•The C. difficile strain (DuCd) involved in the infection belonged to the ribotype 106.•DuCd strain was resistant to ceftriaxone in the antimicrobial susceptibility test and considered a moderate biofilm producer.
