Zusammenfassung: | Background: Arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal and resection arthroplasty of the lesser metatarsophalangeal joints are commonly used operations in rheumatoid arthritis of the forefoot joints.
Objective: Nine arthrodeses of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint with bioabsorbable self-reinforced poly(
l/dl)lactide 70:30 (SR-P(
l/dl)LA 70:30) screw fixation and six resection arthroplasties of the lesser metatarsophalangeal joints were performed on eight patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
Results: All but one arthrodesis reached bony union in the position of 25–27° (mean 26°) of valgus and 17–19° (mean 18°) of dorsiflexion. Subjectively, the clinical result was excellent in four and good in five feet. No complications related to the bioabsorbable implants occurred during the 20–28 months follow-up time.
Conclusions: The bioabsorbable implants appeared suitable for MTP 1 arthrodesis fixation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. |
