Zusammenfassung: | Solketal has been identified as one of the most promising chemical entities among oleochemicals. Process intensification protocols such as continuous flow technology add a new dimension and a promising toolbox for ketalisation of bio-based abundant polyol, glycerol. This review discusses recent advances in the catalytic ketalisation of glycerol encompassing homogeneous catalysts, commercial heterogeneous catalysts and specifically designed heterogeneous catalysts in the laboratories.
