Zusammenfassung: | High entropy alloys (HEAs) have been conceived in the last part of the 20th century and realized at the beginning of the 21st century as a breakthrough in alloy design involving multiple components in equimolar or near equimolar ratio. These materials are relatively new (16 years old) and, therefore, major industrial applications are not attempted so far. Hence, it is required to develop novel alloys and manufacturing methods to make them useful, showcasing their distinct properties and applicability for strategic sectors. We report here a detailed investigation on the development of HEA containing small amount of Al involving microstructure and property characterization. Further, as a scale up attempt, one component of HEA (CoCrFeMnNi)

was realized via investment casting route, which is found to be sound with respect to surface and radiography examination. The novel processing of the HEAs

casting routes developed in this investigation can further be applied to obtain components to reap the benefits of these materials, exhibiting huge potential and opening up new vistas.
