Zusammenfassung:The present study reports a rapid, routine and cost effective method using high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) for the estimation of formaldehyde in milk samples. The standardization of the method was based on simulation parameters of chemical composition of mobile phase, nature of stationary phase and saturation time. Optimized stationary phase was aluminium baked HPTLC plates pre-coated with silica gel 60 F 254s , mobile phase: chloroform: dichloromethane: diethyl ether (4:5:0.8, v/v/v), saturation time: 5 min. The proposed method was validated by testing its specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection and limit of quantification.
