Zusammenfassung: | The ability of 2,1,3-benzoselena(thia)diazole derivatives to generate paramagnetic intermediates upon monochromatic excitation (
λ
max
= 365 nm) under different experimental conditions was monitored via EPR spin trapping. The photoinduced activation of molecular oxygen leading to the production of superoxide radical anions, along with other oxygen-, carbon-, or nitrogen-centered radicals originating from the solvent or the solute was evidenced via the identification of the corresponding spin adducts.
