Zusammenfassung:The composition of the acidic components was determined for a cross section of distilled tall oil products produced in the United States. The composition varied widely as a result of different process designs and operations. Filtration of those products that crystallize offers a potential for upgrading some distilled tall oils. In the course of this work, a new resin acid, 7,15‐pimaradien‐18‐oic acid, was isolated and identified.
