Zusammenfassung:13 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) were treated with intravenous infusion of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). In 6 patients 2 mg/day of TRH was i.v. given over 2 hours for 10 days. In 7 others 2 mg/day of TRH was continuously infused by means of a pump. An increase of thyroid hormones related to the duration of the treatment was observed. A surprising finding was the onset of prolactin (PRL) response to growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH), previously absent.
