Zusammenfassung:Several rapid methods have been developed for detecting septicemia, which are especially useful for detecting organisms that can multiply among sedimented blood cells without producing visible turbidity. One of the most inexpensive methods is acridine orange (AO) staining, which has been shown to be rapid, reliable and easy to perform. The authors compared AO and conventional blind subculturing with another dye, ethidium bromide (EB) which was expected to have a high sensitivity.
