observation on the influence of different levels of nitrogen on the incidence of rust disease of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides Stapf & Hubb.)

The influence of different levels of nitrogen on the incidence of rust disease of pearl millet on different varieties was studied under field conditions. In general though the application of nitrogen increased the susceptibility of pearl millet to rust disease compared with the 0-N treatment, the different doses of nitrogen applied do not have any marked influence on the disease incidence. Among the six hybrid varieties of pearl millet tested no variety exhibited resistanse to rust incidence and all were found to be susceptible in varying degrees of intensity.
