Zusammenfassung:The authors present experimental data and construct kinetic relationships for the erosion of polycrystalline aluminum D-16 impacted upon by a stream of tungsten carbide VK-6 particles. The correlations between the surface energy of the target and the kinetic energy of the particles are established from the standpoints of thermodynamics and mechanics. The relationships are used to assess damage accumulation in the target for various flow rates, sizes, and densities of the particle stream.
