Zusammenfassung: | Total cross-section distribution and scattering indicatrices for the scattering of radiation from an external source on the pulsations in dielectric permittivity were calculated in a nonisothermal turbulent jet. The effect of absorption of light energy on the scattering process was neglected. The limits of applicability of the equations defining the scattering cross sections coincided with the necessary conditions for use of the single scattering Born approximation. Total scattering cross sections were evaluated by a model of the dielectric permittivity pulsation spectrum. The spectral function of the temperature pulsation field was also determined. Scattering indicatrices were sharply elongated and directed toward the incident radiation. The value of the total scattering cross section for radiation at a wavelength /lambda/ = 0.5 in the ground layer of the troposphere equaled 5/center dot/ 10/sup /minus/2/ m/sup /minus/1/ while its value at the center of the jet was 1.2 m/sup /minus/1/. |
