Zusammenfassung:In 1975, the Gosstandard of the USSR approved the primary standard of equivalent dose and equivalent dose rate units of neutron radiation created in the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Metrology as primary State standards. In accordance with international recommendations and standards, the degree of radiation hazards to a chronically exposed human being is evaluated with the aid of the equivalent dose which is defined as a physical quantity D/sub eq/ equal to the product of the adsorbed dose D and the average quality factor anti K. The quality factor anti K depends on the linear energy transfer of charged particles L/sub infinity/(keV/..mu..), its dependence on the neutron energy E being frequently used in the case of neutron radiation. The unit of an equivalent dose is joule per kilogram (J/kg); the rem unit can also be used (1 rem = 0.01 J/kg).
