Zusammenfassung:The combustion rate of gaseous and condensed systems can be increased by inserting heat-conducting elements (HCE), that is, copper or silver wires, into the system. In liquid systems the HCE diameter does not influence the combustion rate. But the HCE diameter should influence the combustion rate substantially in solid-phase systems, where the one-dimensional approach is completely inadequate. Besides tests with long wires passing through the whole grain and oriented in the direction of the combustion, tests were conducted with grains containing short chaotically oriented copper needles. The optimal diameter for grains with needles should be less than for grains with long wires.
