Zusammenfassung:See adjacent abstract. The cyclic crack resistance of titanium VT-22 alloy in air and in vacuum at room and low temperatures was investigated. It was shown that the curve of crack growth rate in vacuum shifts towards higher values of K sub max that in air. Temperature decrease to 93K in vacuum changes the slope of the curve and intersect diagrams. The peculiarities of fatigue fracture of all the samples were examined with SEM. The observed determination of the alloy crack resistance at a low temperature is accounted for its ability to brittle failure. In air, the failure surface consists in randomly arranged small-projected structures.
