Zusammenfassung:Detailed sedimentological, bio- and lithostratigraphical studies of the several Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous sections in the Western Carpathians, Eastern Alps and mid Transdanubian Mountains allow three successive models of carbonate sedimentary environment to be distinguished. The production of platform- and planktogenic carbonate in each of them was controlled by both palaeotectonic changes in bottom geomorphology and a current system that also influenced the amount of oxygen and nutrients available.
