The influence of surface character of FeMoO Catalysts on their activity in methanol to formaldehyde oxidation reaction

The synthesis of the catalyst FeIIIMoIIO was performed starting from isortho Fe(OH)3 and γ‐FeOOH. The catalysts differed markedly as to their activity in the reaction of methanol oxidation depending on the “biography” of their iron(III) oxide. The catalytic properties of the system were found to depend on its porous structure. Einfluß des Oberflächencharakters der FeMoO‐Katalysatoren auf ihre Aktivität bei der Oxydation von Methanol zu Formaldehyd Die Darstellung des FeIIIMoVIO‐Katalysators wurde ausgehend vom iso‐ortho‐Fe(OH)3 bzw. γ‐FeO(OH) durchgeführt. Die Katalysatoren unterscheiden sich deutlich in Abhängigkeit von ihrer „Biographie”︁ bei der Methanol‐Oxydation. Die katalytischen Eigenschaften des Systems hängen von seiner Porenstruktur ab.
