Diagnostic value of fasting hypopharyngeal salivary pepsin concentration test for laryngopharyngeal reflux disease

Zusammenfassung: | Significant findings of the study: The fasting hypopharyngeal salivary pepsin concentration test with one time sampling can be used as a highly specific, simple, and noninvasive diagnostic indicator of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD), with an optimal cutoff value of 29.62 ng/mL (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, 0.773; sensitivity, 51.8%; and specificity, 93.6%).
What this study adds: This study addresses the issue of detecting saliva pepsin concentration for diagnosing LPRD, focusing on the timing, site, and frequency of sampling. In the fasting state, a single saliva sample collected from the hypopharynx is effective for LPRD diagnosis. |
