Zusammenfassung: | The authors present the case of a 45‐year‐old man who initially presented to his GP with a single genital ulcer. A few weeks later, while awaiting a biopsy of this ulcer, he developed jaundice, necessitating admission to hospital. Four months and numerous investigations later, a diagnosis of syphilis was finally made. This case emphasises the need to increase awareness of syphilis among all healthcare professionals.
