Zusammenfassung:Aluminum matrix composites with fullerenes and carbon onions as reinforcing nanoparticles were studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Composites were produced by mechanical alloying. It is demonstrated that aluminum carbide formation (the reaction proceeds between aluminum and carbon nanoparticles) starts at 300 to 370°C, which is much lower compared with the starting temperature of the reaction between aluminum and carbon macromaterials.
