Zusammenfassung:A micrometeorological investigation in the tropical forest of north‐western Colombia has provided new data on forest temperature profiles and the factors controlling the profile shape. The lapse rate above the forest canopy is a direct function of the increase in temperature between the surface and the canopy. The level of maximum temperature is not at the top of the canopy. Thus, the Colombian forest temperature profiles are unlike other forest profiles previously reported in the literature.
