Zusammenfassung:Thermoluminescence measurements of beta‐irradiated divalent Europium doped binary divalent alkali halides with RbCl and KBr components at several compositions x have been obtained. A characteristic thermoluminescence glow peak for each concentration is identified and its temperature, varying from 373 to 458 K, is seen to be dependent on composition. The temperature shift is analyzed as an ion size effect. It is stronger when the halogen ions are interchanged, resembling that the recombination of a halogen vacancy with a hole is the principal source of the thermoluminescence glow peaks. The arguments above are used to predict in a gross manner the temperature of the principal thermoluminiscence glow peaks in different halogen families. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
