Zusammenfassung:An analysis is made of the magnetic and optical properties of an antiferromagnetic dielectric (AFD) in constant magnetic field. Hybrid excitations appearing in AFD during the single‐particle transitions represent a mixture of magnetic excitons and photons. The direct relationship between the average magnetic and electric dipole moment of the crystal is a consequence of the hybridization of elementary excitations. This relationship is described by the magneto‐optical tensor, which is expressed through the microscopic features of the system, more precisely, through electric dipole and magnetic dipole moments of the transitions in the paramagnetic ions in AFD.
