radiation at room temperature and have been corrected for thermal diffuse scattering. The X‐ray Debye temperatures obtained for Bi and Sb have been compared with corresponding values obtained from specific heats and elastic constants. The values of Debye temperature obtained for Bi
1–
x
–Sb
x
alloys have been compared with the values calculated from Kopp–Neumann relation. Vacancy formation energies of Bi, Sb and Bi
1–
x
–Sb
x
