Zusammenfassung: | Schwannomas in the oral cavity are relatively rare. We experienced a 28‐year‐old woman with a protruding schwannoma of the sublingual surface. Few of the features of this tumor are specified. It is important to understand the clinicopathological features of tongue schwannoma. So, we reviewed both Japanese and international literature on this tumor. This tumor was more common in younger patients. On their macroscopic image, the tumors were masses with painless and exophytic parts. In addition, the tongue lesion in the movable part of the oral cavity had a longer disease duration and a slightly smaller tongue mass with an average size of 20 mm, as compared with a tongue base tumor with a chief complaint of some dysfunction. The schwannoma should be mentioned as one of the differential diagnosis of the exophytic mass of the tongue. |
