Zusammenfassung: | A novel and simple design of a coplanar waveguide‐fed dual‐wide band antenna formed by a circular monopole antenna with symmetrically folded stub is investigated for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications.The impedance bandwidths achieved reach about 1.27 GHz (1.92–3.19 GHz) 58.8% at the center frequency of 2.16 and 0.76 GHz (5.01–5.74 GHz) 13.3% at the center frequency of 5.47 GHz. These characteristics meet the required bandwidth specifications of IEEE 802.11a/b/g. The peak antenna gains for the operating frequencies across dual WLAN bands are measured to be 6.30 and 5.16 dBi, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
