Splaying of the ligand shell transforms the spherical NPs to rod‐like shapes. Anisotropic (nematic) LC phases thus assemble from isotropic NPs, providing a route to create anisotropic assemblies of spherical or cubic nanoparticles to enhance their plasmonic, optical or magnetic properties. |
