Zusammenfassung:The time required by the official method for determining the carvone content of spearmint oil can be considerably shortened by using a modified apparatus incorporating a magnetic stirrer. A spectrophotometric method is also presented, using solutions of different concentrations of carvone in “carvone‐free” spearmint oil and diluting with 95 per cent ethyl alcohol; a graph can thus be prepared by plotting concentration against absorbancy at the wave length of maximum absorption.
