Zusammenfassung:	Properties of kaolin were critically studied from the viewpoint of proposing a more stringent set of standards in order to better define this pharmaceutical product. Determinations as to chemical composition, settling rate, and absorption of alkaloids and dyes were carried out. Microphotographs of the contaminants present were obtained and an effort was made to relate the presence of these contaminants with the observed pharmaceutical activity.
