Zusammenfassung:It has been found that the diluted post‐hydrolytic acid solutions and the solutions of the waste ferrous sulphate show higher catalytic activity in SO 2 oxidation than do standard solutions of ferrous sulphate. It has also been demonstrated that during SO 2 absorption, Fe(II) ions are the first to undergo oxidation, followed by SO 2 oxidation to H 2 SO 4 .
