Extractors agitated with rotating stirrers. Methods for the calculation of height and diameter of extractors with rotating stirrers (RDC, ARD, Kühniextractor, RZE, etc.) are considered and the significance of single drops in the design of agitated extractors is discussed. The dimensioning and scaling‐up of extractors are explained. Equations illustrate the basic importance of hydrodynamics, mass transfer, and longitudinal mixing. The possibility of designing agitated extractors on the basis of this concept is outlined.
