ChemInform Abstract: An Efficient Aqueous Phase Synthesis of Benzimidazoles/Benzothiazoles in the Presence of β-Cyclodextrin

The title compounds are synthesized in water under neutral conditions by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 2‐amino thiophenol (I) or o‐phenylenediamine (IV) mediated by β‐cyclodextrin in high yields.
