Zusammenfassung:Photoinduced explosion: The crystal of photochromic molecule, diarylethene, is known to bend upon irradiation with UV/Vis light due to the strain by the photoisomerization of the molecules in the crystal. The crystals of some of the derivative of diarylethene were reported to show explosion of the crystal, so called photosalient phenomena. The photosalient phenomena of diarylethene crystal is rare; however, we found that the diarylethene crystal, which had no previous report of a photosalient effect, showed photosalient phenomena upon irradiation with strong UV light. The remarkable explosion reminded us of fireworks, as seen in the cover artwork. More information can be found in the Full Paper by M. Morimoto, K. Uchida, et al. on page 7874.
