Semisynthetic Rhodomycins: Novel Glycosylation Methods for the Synthesis of Anthracycline Oligosaccharides

Anthracyclines, as well as numerous microbial and plant natural products, contain oligosaccharide sequences with α‐linked oligodeoxy sugars as building blocks. New, efficient methods of glycosylation make it possible to prepare α(1→4)‐linked di‐ and trisaccharide partial sequences 1 and 2 of anthracyclines (n = 1,2). These sequences were previously only accessible with difficulty.
