[(η5-C5Me5)2 Ti2P6], a Distorted Dimetallaphosphacubane

Complex 1, obtained as red‐brown, air‐stable crystals, is formed by cothermolysis of [Cp 2*Ti(CO)2] and P4; its NMR spectra differ significantly from those of the triple‐decker complexes [(Cp*M)2(μ,η6−P6)] (M  Mo, W, V). Complex 1 undergoes ready oxidation and ideal reversible reduction. Instead of a distorted cubane framework, the structure of 1 can be looked upon as a P6 ring in chair conformation with two Cp*Ti “caps.”
