Zusammenfassung: | Stress growth and stress decay data for two highly viscoelastic polymer solutions indicate that the first and second normal stress differences grow and decay at the same relative rates. These shear stress and first normal stress difference data are not represented well by the Spriggs, Bogue‐Chen, or Carreau constitutive equations. The second normal stress difference, stress growth, and decay data are the first to be reported. The data were derived from radial pressure distributions and total normal and tortional forces obtained in cone and plate shearing. Sensitive miniature pressure transducers with pressure sensing diaphragms mounted flush with the plate surface provided the radial pressure distribution data. |
