Non-Additive Effects in the Elastic Behavior of Dental Composites

Zusammenfassung:The effective stiffness of dental composites consisting of a polymer and two fillers of different particle size is not predicted correctly by an additive approach (i.e. predicting the stiffness of a polymer and one‐filler system first). Better accordance with the experimental behavior is reached using a direct finite‐element calculation, which has been applied to this type of problem for the first time here.
