The diminished vowel space in classical singing and the tug of war between "speech-true" and modified vowel qualities
Ophaug presents a phonetic examination of how the spaces between vowel sounds are shorter in classical singing than they are in everyday spoken language. She offers a model for singers which should improve their diction and help them target vowel sounds when singing in foreign languages.
