MICROTEKTITE DISCOVERED IN BEIJING

<正> In the summer of 1979, the authors discovered from the core of Well No.1 in Shunyi (顺义) County, Beijing, China, at a depth of 182—327 m, more than 40 glass globules with diameters of 0.17—0.65 mm. According to their stratigraphic ages, occurrences, forms, physical properties and main chemical components, we consider that they are microtektites. These microtektites are preserved in the middle and lower parts of Zhaili (翟里) Formation of the Mid-Pleistocene Series. Their litho-
