The Aims and Scope of the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering(JRMGE)indicate that it"is concerned with the latest research achievements in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering..The topics covered by the JRMGE include new theories,new technologies,new methods and experiences,in-situ and laboratory tests,new developments,case studies and timely reviews on selected subjects in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering."A cursory review of the contents of the journal in recent years suggests that a majority of the papers published report recent research results,often obtained from laboratory tests or numerical analyses.Case studies,reviews and other papers of direct interest or relevance to practicing engineers have appeared less frequently,although the journal has always published a number of excellent and valuable papers of these types(e.g.Fan et al.,2011;Barton,2012;Duffaut,2013;Langford et al.,2016;Wu et al.,2016).
