Preface

The goal of the special section is to provide a forum for presenting the most recent advances in data mining on social media processing, related to Web search and information retrieval, Web mining, social network analysis, semantic Web, natural language processing, and computational advertising. After a rigorous reviewing procedure, we finally accepted 12 papers from the received 28 submissions. Two of them were published in Volume 30, Number 4 and the other 10 are published in this section. Among the 10 papers, there are four about recommendations, two about user classification, three about social content analysis, and one about social relationship mining.
