THE EXISTENCE AND DESIGN OF REGULAR STATE ASYMPTOTIC OBSERVER FOR SINGULAR SYSTEMS

The problems of existence and design of regular (state asymptotic) observer for singularsystems of the form Ex=Ax+Bu, y=Dx, (E singular) are considered. A new concept ofstrong detectability for the above system is presented and it is proved that there exist reg-ular observers for a singular system if and only if the system is strongly detectable. It isalso shown that the problem of regular observer design for a singular system can be re-duced equivalently to that for a regular system x=Ax+Bu, y=Dx with the order lowerthan rank E.
