Zusammenfassung: | Lying on the southern bank of the middle Yangtze River, Jiangxi constitutes the confluence of the north and south cultures and holds an important position in Chinese archaeology. Jiangxi archaeology got its start relatively late, but from the 1970s, it has obtained a series of significant discoveries, including the primitive remains in the Spirit Cave and at Diaotonghuan,Wannian, the Shang site at Wucheng, Zhangshu, the Shang tomb at Dayangzhou, Xingan, the Shang and Zhou copper mine at Tongling, Ruichang, the Eastern Zhou cliffside tombs at Guixi, the kiln-sites at Hongzhou and Hutian, and the imperial porcelain workshop at Jingdezhen. These achievements indicate that Jiangxi was not a barbarian area but had developed primitive agriculture and splendid bronze and ceramic culture. Thus the valuable historical and archaeological material revealed new chapters in the past of Jiangxi. |
