Zusammenfassung:“Musical tectonics” is the fundamental concept within a large-scale musical-theoretical project seeking to achieve a single model of comprehension of musical phenomena. The article seeks to follow as much as possible the twoway movement of scientific research from and towards certain concepts in the complicated process of developing a new theoretical system. The term “musical tectonics” was preferred over “architectonics” (which is more common in music theory) as the former expresses the musical whole with increased attention to its construction. The relationship between the fundamental musical factor (formula, cantus firmus, theme, etc.) and the main constructive factor (dominants, tonal functionality, rhythm, texture, timbre, etc., in the twentieth-century styles) can express the different historically established forms of musical organisation. The tectonics, in turn, draws attention to the spatio-temporal coordinates in music, while the role of a vertical and a horizontal as value coordinates of different in type communications with the participation of music extends the notion of musical tectonics to a 6-dimensional model of three spatial and three temporal immanent musical coordinates (horizontal–vertical–depth) which functions in a 6-dimensional spatio-temporal model of analogous value coordinates. The leading category is „vertical” time (i.e. existence in a single event), which in ritual communication often exhausts the musical process, while in concert music it defines the horizontal as a series of vertical-temporal events.
